Janmashtami
Janmashtami marks the appearance of Lord Krishna and is celebrated worldwide with great joy by devotees.
Traditional observances include fasting, night vigils, kirtan, dramatic recitation of Krishna’s pastimes, and the ceremonial swinging of the infant Krishna in a cradle (bal-bhoga).
ISKCON temples commonly present devotional dramas, bhajans, and distribute generous prasadam.
The festival is a time for deepening one’s study of the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam and sharing Krishna’s teachings with the community.
ISKCON Ahilya Nagar organizes a night-long program of kirtan, children’s performances, and prasadam distribution.
How ISKCON Celebrates
At ISKCON Ahilya Nagar we celebrate with kirtan, scriptural discourses, community feasts and devotional service. All are welcome.
