Chandan Yatra

Chandan Yatra is a summer festival where the deities are anointed with cooling sandalwood paste and taken in gentle processions.

The practice recalls the loving care given to the Lord’s forms during hot months and is linked to rural temple rituals like boat festivals.

Devotees participate in singing, offering flowers and receiving blessings during the anointment ceremonies.

Chandan Yatra is often marked with community events, youth participation, and vibrant decorations in the temple.

At Ahilya Nagar we hold a special morning procession and invite pilgrims to witness the anointments.

At ISKCON Ahilya Nagar we celebrate with kirtan, scriptural discourses, community feasts and devotional service. All are welcome.
