The month of Kartik is considered the holiest month in the Hindu calendar. It is also known as Damodara month, named after Krishna's pastime of being bound by Mother Yashoda with ropes of love.
Significance
"Of all months, Kartik is the dearest to Lord Krishna." - Padma Purana. Any spiritual activity performed during this month yields results thousands of times greater than usual.
How to Observe?
- Offer a ghee lamp (deep daan) to Lord Damodara daily.
- Chant the Damodarashtakam prayers.
- Read Srimad Bhagavatam daily.
- Increase chanting of the Holy Names.
